4900 block of Minnesota Avenue, NE

Units were dispatched with the 2nd BFC for the report of a house on fire in the 4900 block of Minnesota Avenue N.E..  First arriving E27 found a house fully involved with extension into the D1 exposure.  E15 arrived second due and covered the charlie side.  E15 extignuished the fire in the D1 exposure while RS3 perfomed the searches and covered the utilities.  After the original fire building was extinguished, RS3 peformed a primary and secondary seraches which all turned out to be negative.  Units returned to quarters at 0745.


 
   
   
3109 Buena Vista Terrace, SE

Units were dispatched with the 3rd BFC for the report of an apartment on fire at 3109 Buena Vista Terrace, SE.  First arriving E32 found fire showing from the 1st floor with extension to the 2nd.  E15 advanced a back up line to assist E32 and secured their water supply.  RS3 performed the primary and secondary searches which all proved to be negative.  Units returned to service within the hour.


 
   
   
One Over Turned On Minnesota Ave S.E.

Engine 15, Rescue 3 and the third battalion chief were dispatched for an automobile accident with people trapped @ 18th and Minnesota Ave S.E. Units arrived on scene to find a two car accident with one over turned and a person trapped. Engine 15 placed a hand line in service and provided patient care as the Rescue stabilized the vehicle and extricated the trapped victim from the vehicle within 15 minutes and handed over to awaiting EMS personal.Units picked up and were ready for service in just under an hour.

 
   
   
School Bus Fire

Engine's 15,25 Truck 16 and the Third Battalion Chief were dispatched to 2700 Langston Place S.E. for a bus fire with possible children still on the bus. Engine 15 arrived to find a bus fire with all children safely off the bus the third chief held 15 engine for the bus fire.

 
   
   
MLK Avenue and Howard Road, SE

Units were dispatched with the 3rd BFC to MLK Avenue and Howard Road, SE for an accident with entrapment.  E15, RS3 and BFC3 arrived to find the same.  E15 pulled a protection handline and RS3 went to work stabilizing and extricating the line victim.  RS3 removed the doors and roof and handed the patient over to awaiting EMS crews.  Units returned to service with in 30 minutes.


 
   
   
15 Engine First Due

Just before 11PM Engine 15 along with other units in the 3rd and 2nd Battalions were dispatched for a house fire @ 2709 Minnesota Ave S.E. 15 Engine arrived to find fire showing from the first floor of a 2 story end of the row. 15 Engine made quick of the fire on the first floor and Rescue 3 completed their search which proved negative command 3 held the box to 2 + 2.


 
   
   
ONE TRAPPED ON BRANCH AVE S.E.

 Rescues 3 along with other units in the 3rd Battalion were dispatched to 2500 block of Branch Ave. S.E. for the motor vehicle accident with entrapment. First arriving units found a SUV on its side with one trapped. SQUAD RUNS ONE TRAPPED ON SOUTHERN AVE S.E

At 1034 hrs Rescue 3 was alerted to a 3 car accident with one trapped in the 2500 block of Southern Ave S.E. Rescue 3 arrived on scene and went to work removing the trapped victim,  in under 20 minutes the victim was removed from the vehicle and patient care turned over to ems units. The victim was air lifted by Trooper 2 to the truama center and units began cleaning up and cleared the scene in about an hour. 


 
   
   
RESCUE 3 RUNS CONFINED SPACE INCIDENT

At 0744 hrs Rescue 3 was alerted to a confined space rescue at 2nd ST. and Constitution Ave. N.E. Rescue 3 arrived and found that a construction worker had fallen down in a hole that was approximately 25 feet deep. Rescue 3 and Rescue 2 went to work, setting up a haul system to remove the victim from the hole. Once the victim was removed and then transported to local trauma center.

WATER DRILL

#2 platoon of special operations completed their annual water drill at the Randle pool in Southwest today going over removal of victims, securing patients to backboards and retrieval of drowning victims.


 
   
   
HIGH ANGLE RESCUE

Units from special operations were preparing for their annual water drill at the Randle pool in Southwest as commutations dispatched the high angle rescue assignment to the 14th Street Bridge for an injured worker. Engine 7 arrived on scene to find an injured worker underneath the bridge on a cat walk. Members from special operations come up with the plan to lower two members over the bridge to prepare the lowering of the victim to fire boat 2. The Fire boat transported the victim to awaiting EMS units.


 
   
   
APARTMENT FIRE

 Around 14:30 hours the box alarm was sounded for 217 Newcomb St. S.E. for an apartment fire, Engine 25 arrived with no showing from side (A) Engine 15 third due ran the 400 to back up 25 Engine. Units found a kitchen fire on the third floor which was knocked quickly Rescue 3 completed their search which proved negative. Command 3 held this box with 1+1


 
   
   
Saint Elizabeth Hospital

Units with the 3rd Battalion Chief were dispatched to 2700 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave S.E. for the building fire. Engine 15 arrived on scene at the west side of the compound of a 5-story hospital with fire on the fifth floor and thru the roof. Rescue 3 forced entry to the building and conducted there search which proved negative as Engine 15 was able to make it to the fifth floor with flawless line placement of the 400 foot 1 1/2 and knocked down the bulk of the fire as units were placing other lines in service. The WFD was sound along with the water supply task force; command 3 also requested the second alarm. Command 3 held the original box alarm returning the remaining units. 1612 W Street, SE 2nd Alarm

Units were alerted with the 3rd BFC for the report of smoke coming from the House in the 1600 Block of W Street, SE.  E15 cleared a medical local and picked up 5th due on the box.  Rescue 3 was fueling up and was not assigned to the run.  BFC3 arrived on the scene with a 2 story single family dwelling with smoke showing from the top floor and a report of occupants trapped.  First arriving companies removed 2 occupants from the structure to awaiting EMS personnel.  E15 was assigned the RIT upon their arrival, and then re-assigned to cover the 1st floor.  The 2nd alarm was requested and brought Rescue 3 to the scene.  Rescue 3 relieved Rescue 1 on the fire floor and completed the primary search which proved negative.  Units remained on the scene until 2315 hours.
